Today I got a call about blood in the men’s restroom (I’m a female btw). I’m going in expecting maybe a few drops, However, what I walked in on looked like a scene from a horror movie. I took a picture with my ipod, the image link is below…and YES I swear that is the REAL picture that I took at work. I refused to clean it. My health is not work a $8.00 an hour job. I’m 23 years old, I live at home and I am in school for psychology,so if my company wanted to fire me over this well I would welcome it with open arms.Anyway, JcPenney apparnetly didn’t have a blood-borne pathogens kit, so not only did they expect me to clean it up, but they expected me to do so without proper protection. Isn’t that against the law? I’ve worked in retail before and out of all those boring videos they make you watch, there is always one about blood borne pathogens, and the training needed and kit. Walmart even makes you wear an entire suit. Another cleaner that was there with me (Male) finally cleaned it up. My question is, can I report this? Not the fact that they tried to make me clean it up, because they can’t MAKE me do anything. But the fact that she told me they didn’t have a kit that I could use and I would have to use regular latex gloves and to “pretend that it came from a woman” IE: Period blood…*rolls eyes*. I thought about it, why is the severity of stealing treated and/or thought of differently?
If you go to a store and steal a .50 cent candy, or even an ipod (which isn’t necessary to survive), people will lecture you about how you should get a job. It’s not like you were stealing food for your family. They say you were just being greedy and spoiled. Then these same people go home to their computer to download hundreds of songs, or watch movies online instead of paying for the music from iTunes, going to the movie theaters, renting or buying the DVD. I know the chances of getting caught are slim, and you aren’t taking a “physical” item, but these are services that are usually paid for :P and I know some people might say that these celebs or movies make millions anyways. lol
So what difference does it make to save $50 a month watching movies online for free, saving $700+ filling your ipod with songs over the years than taking a candy bar or sunglasses and then ridiculing them?
Oh as for the video, if you did not watch it, people had to drop off their stuff in this conveyer belt and pass through a metal detector. Do you think cops ever purposely set up this scenario by leaving expensive watches/jewelry in the box, just to catch people who are willing to take it for themselves than return it? I find that to be funny, but seriously a lot of people would be charged if they did that!
